Key GOP lawmaker casts doubt on data-breach legislation following Equifax hearing

Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH), who chaired the first congressional hearing on the Equifax breach on Tuesday, said “human error” was largely behind the hack that exposed sensitive data of 145 million Americans and that legislation is not necessarily the answer since the company may have failed to follow existing standards and requirements.
