Cybersecurity dominates hearing on credit agencies, but legislative response still TBD

A lengthy House Financial Services hearing on consumer credit rating agencies left unclear how the panel will address cybersecurity-related issues, though the 2017 Equifax hack and its aftermath were the dominant theme of the Tuesday session.

Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) has offered legislation that addresses issues like fraud alerts and security freezes when consumer data is illegally exposed, but the measure doesn't go into breach notification requirements or mandatory security controls at credit rating agencies like Equifax....
