NIST developing 'voluntary privacy framework' for managing risk

The National Institute of Standards and Technology announced today that it is developing a voluntary privacy framework to help organizations manage risks, with NIST aiming to collect input at an October conference in Texas.

The NIST privacy framework will be developed through a “collaborative process” and in conjunction with a legal and policy approach for consumer privacy being developed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration in coordination with the International Trade Administration, to ensure “consistency with international policy objectives,”...
