State Dept. seeks ‘use cases’ from Europeans on data-security rule implementation

The United States government is seeking “use cases” from European Union officials on how the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation will be implemented beginning on May 25, according to a senior State Department official.

“There’s been very little guidance on how it will be implemented, there are no clear use cases on how it will be used,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Rob Strayer said Tuesday at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “TECGlobal” conference in Washington, DC.
