FCC action on effective date for net-neutrality repeal sets stage for major battle

The Federal Communications Commission's long-awaited Federal Register notice on implementation of the Chairman Ajit Pai's plan for repealing Obama-era rules for the internet is set for publication, a move that will eventually trigger a flood of legal challenges by consumer advocates and others in favor of tougher privacy and data security requirements.

The FCC's “declaratory ruling” slated for release tomorrow establishes a 60-day period, ending April 27, during which petitions for review can be filed on the so-called net-neutrality...
