Democrats ‘hopeful’ self-driving car bill with cyber provisions will head to Senate floor

Key Democrats on the Senate Commerce Committee are hopeful bipartisan legislation requiring automakers to establish cybersecurity plans for autonomous vehicles will receive a floor vote soon, as work continues on refining the committee-passed measure.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), a Democratic co-sponsor of the American Vision for Safer Transportation through Advancement of Revolutionary Technologies “AV START” Act, told Inside Cybersecurity that lawmakers are continuing to work on the measure.
