House Financial Services panel leader to announce legislative plan on consumer data security

Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO), chairman of a key Financial Services subcommittee, today will announce plans to develop “comprehensive” data security and breach notification legislation “in the near future,” according to a congressional staffer.

“Rep. Luetkemeyer will be writing comprehensive data security legislation,” the aide told Inside Cybersecurity. “Now, this is in the early stages.
