Intel director nominee Coats cites cyber challenges, questioned on Russia probe intentions

Former Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN), nominated to serve as Director of National Intelligence, at his confirmation hearing Feb. 28 pegged the nation’s cybersecurity challenge as one his top priorities and said the issue was “quickly rising to the top of the list.”

Coats deferred on naming a top cyber adversary during a largely friendly appearance before the Senate Intelligence Committee, though he noted Russia, China, North Korea and Iran’s capabilities in this domain.
