House approves new China panel with Gallagher set to lead; Lucas to chair Science Committee

The House has approved creation of a select committee on China that is a top priority of new Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and will be led by Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), a cyber policy leader who co-chaired the nonpartisan Cyberspace Solarium Commission.

The bill establishing the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party was approved Tuesday on a 365-65 vote.
