Senate Commerce advances Pekoske nomination for second term as TSA chief

The Senate Commerce Committee has favorably reported TSA Administrator David Pekoske’s nomination for a second five-year term guiding an agency with a frontline role on cybersecurity oversight for the pipelines, rail and aviation critical infrastructure sectors.

The panel on Wednesday approved Pekoske by voice vote, with Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Rick Scott (R-FL) voting no. Timing for a floor vote is unclear but the Senate will be in session through next week before its planned August recess.
