Hassan and Portman offer Senate version of ‘quantum computing cyber preparedness’ bill, following House passage

Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Homeland Security ranking member Rob Portman (R-OH) have introduced a bill directing the federal government to take steps in preparation for moving systems to post-quantum cryptography, as officials begin grappling with the cybersecurity challenges of quantum computing.

Hassan and Portman on Thursday introduced the “Quantum Computing Cybersecurity Preparedness Act” the Senate version of a measure by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) that passed the House on July 12.
