CISA gets major funding boost, new authority over cyber incident reporting with passage of omnibus package

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency gains new authority to implement the nation’s most expansive cyber incident reporting regime, plus a significant funding bump-up, with final congressional passage of the fiscal 2022 omnibus appropriations measure.

The Senate late Thursday gave final approval to the spending package carrying the incident reporting legislation and Ukraine assistance, sending the measure to President Biden for his signature. The House passed the omnibus legislation late Wednesday.
