CISA releases assessment of cyber risks accompanying 5G rollout

The DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency today released a “white paper” assessing risks associated with rollout of fifth-generation networks and has recommended “limiting the use of 5G equipment with known or suspected vulnerabilities."

That language has implications for treatment of products from Chinese telecoms like Huawei, and the paper examines related issues including limited alternative suppliers and impacts from China potentially pulling away from international standards-writing processes.
