Water stakeholders look for common position on alternative to EPA’s planned cyber approach

Water industry groups are hoping to “nudge” the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency away from plans to use an existing regulatory tool as a means of applying new cybersecurity controls, but have yet to land on a single alternative for making improvements in the sector’s security posture.

EPA’s efforts -- and the covered industry’s responses -- demonstrate challenges associated with trying to ratchet up cybersecurity practices in sectors where it historically has not been a focus.
