Sens. Peters and Hawley offer measure to address cybersecurity of open source software

Senate Homeland Security Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI) and committee member Josh Hawley (R-MO) have introduced a bill directing CISA to develop a framework for mitigating risks in open source software and for the Office of Management and Budget to issue guidance for federal agencies.

A source close to Peters said the “Securing Open Source Software Act” is a priority and the chairman “will work to get it passed as soon as possible.”
