Senate panel approves cyber policy vet Silvers for senior DHS position, along with nominees for deputy secretary, general counsel

The Senate Homeland Security Committee today advanced the nomination of Robert Silvers to serve as DHS under secretary for strategy, policy and plans, along with two other nominees for top positions at the Department of Homeland Security.

Silvers was approved on a 9-4 vote, while the panel approved John Tien to serve as DHS deputy secretary on a 10-3 vote, and Jonathan Meyer to be general counsel on an 8-5 vote.
