Senate moves toward debate on national defense bill with key cyber elements, amendments

The Senate today holds a procedural vote that if successful will lead to floor debate on the fiscal 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes various cyber pieces and is expected to be amended with provisions creating an incident reporting mandate for critical infrastructure and other cybersecurity proposals.

Today’s cloture motion requiring 60 votes would lead to a vote on a motion to proceed to the defense bill, opening a floor debate that will extend at least over several days....
