SEC set to consider controversial cyber rule for publicly traded companies

The Securities and Exchange Commission has put a proposed cybersecurity rule for all publicly traded companies on the agenda for its July 26 open meeting, amid significant opposition to the proposal from major business groups since its release last year.

“The Commission will consider whether to adopt rules to enhance and standardize disclosures regarding cybersecurity risk management, strategy, governance, and incidents by public companies that are subject to the reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934,” according to...
