SEC expects final action on cyber rule for publicly traded companies by spring 2023, according to regulatory update

The federal government’s latest unified regulatory agenda says the Securities and Exchange Commission is looking to finalize a cybersecurity rule for publicly traded companies by spring 2023, after recently closing a public comment period that generated numerous calls for the SEC to withdraw the proposal.

The proposal is listed in the “final rule stage” in the “Spring 2022 Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions,” posted this month by the Office of Management and Budget. It pegs April 2023...
