NIST details security steps for EV charging stations based on cyber framework

New draft guidance from the National Institute of Standards and Technology addresses cybersecurity steps to secure “fast charging infrastructure” for electric vehicles, as the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and other federal programs attempt to dramatically increase the deployment of EVs.

NIST’s draft Interagency Report 8473, “Cybersecurity Framework Profile for Electric Vehicle Extreme Fast Charging Infrastructure,” was posted Friday and is open for comment until Aug. 28.
