Moody’s identifies challenges for implementing post-quantum cryptography standards

A new report from Moody’s Ratings highlights the challenges and costs of updating legacy systems and managing decreased performance when implementing the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s new post-quantum cryptography standards.

“Implementing new cryptographic standards across devices could take 10 to 15 years due to operational challenges, though swift deployment by some tech companies will accelerate protection for many users,” the ratings firm says in the Wednesday report.
