NIST finalizes federal standards for implementing post-quantum algorithms into networks
The National Institute of Standards and Technology has issued a long-awaited set of standards for federal agencies that will shape how the government prepares to withstand potential attacks from quantum computers.
The three new post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, finalized today as Federal Information Processing Standards, are the culmination of an eight-year process where NIST asked for solutions from industry, security researchers and academics to address how potential threat actors could use quantum computing to gain easy access to federal systems.
