Lawmakers, Solarium vets and stakeholders say NDAA provisions enable a more strategic approach to cyber

A bipartisan chorus has long complained of an insufficiently strategic approach to U.S. cyber policy, a situation the pending defense policy bill addresses with a passel of cybersecurity elements including creation of a National Cyber Director and a continuity-of-the-economy planning provision that builds on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency initiatives.

The bill advances policies that “reinforce a more comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy,” according to Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI), a member of the bipartisan Cyberspace Solarium Commission.
