Kaspersky products seen as a threat to government systems, an opportunity for policymakers

The government's response to perceived cyber vulnerabilities of Kaspersky Lab's products has leveraged security work done during the previous administration -- but it could also create opportunities for refining and strengthening those efforts as agencies quickly act to remove the Russia-based firm's software from their systems.

DHS issued a Binding Operational Directive on Sept. 13 that called on all federal agencies to remove Kaspersky Lab software from their systems within 90 days.
