House Science panel explores cyber oversight, regulatory needs related to commercial space systems

Clarifying which agency is responsible for cybersecurity in the rapidly expanding commercial satellite arena and establishing minimal best-practices and improved threat information sharing were hot topics as a House Science panel discussed next steps in federal space policy.

The Science space subcommittee’s Thursday hearing, “Exploring Cyber Space: Cybersecurity Issues for Civil and Commercial Space Systems,” featured NIST’s Matthew Scholl, Theresa Suloway from MITRE, and Brandon Bailey from the Aerospace Corporation.
