House advances final version of defense policy bill with scaled-back chip ban, requirement for DHS to spell out key cyber role

Lawmakers want more information from DHS on its cyber incident response program under a provision in the final version of the annual defense policy bill that cleared the House today, and want new controls on semiconductors imported from China.

The fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act now heads to a final vote in the Senate, where floor debate is expected next week.
