Federal energy regulators approve incentives plan for utility cybersecurity investments

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a new rule on incentives for cybersecurity investments by utilities, advancing a policy on private-sector cyber investment that has been endorsed by Congress, industry and government alike with limited related action in recent years.

“FERC today issued a final rule providing incentive-based rate treatment for utilities making certain voluntary cybersecurity investments,” the commission said in a release on Thursday.
