Easterly pushes for software ‘liability regime’ as part of secure by design effort

LAS VEGAS. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly backed the idea of establishing a software “liability regime” through legislation in remarks at Black Hat, as part of a push to encourage the use of CISA’s secure by design principles and a pledge to get commitments from vendors on adoption.

“We don’t have a cybersecurity problem, we have a software quality problem,” she declared in a Thursday speech here on the final day of Black Hat 2024.
