Cyber insurance leaders, responding to ransomware task force report, cite role in driving best practices, security improvements

A new report on combating ransomware includes important high-level recommendations and is generally positive toward the insurance industry’s contributions, says Matthew McCabe of global insurance broker Marsh, but he says a suggestion that carrying cyber insurance may encourage attacks is off-base and misses the point on the causes behind the ransomware epidemic and insurers’ efforts to combat it.
