Consumer advocates call for labels from trusted third parties at FTC, while tech group decries EU certification scheme

Consumers need better ways to make decisions about cybersecurity, an Apple executive testified at a highly anticipated Federal Trade Commission hearing on data security, while separately a tech-sector trade association expressed its opposition to a certification scheme for Internet of Things devices included in the European Union's near-final Cybersecurity Act.
