CISA funding clears first hurdle, while cyber agency gets boost in defense bill, but DHS is heading for controversy

A House appropriations subcommittee today by voice vote cleared a DHS funding bill containing a hike for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, while CISA also is getting positive attention in the annual House and Senate defense policy bills, but DHS’ role in policing monuments during protests is already generating blowback that could be perilous for the entire department.
