Artificial Intelligence: Senators move to frame debate while national commission and NIST advance initiatives

In a whirlwind of activity around artificial intelligence, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) made the case for creating a new regulatory body while Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) offered a roadmap for Senate consideration of AI issues, and a high-profile national commission released its first report.

Also, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced that NIST is standing up a new collaborative working group on artificial intelligence, an issue rife with cybersecurity and privacy implications.
