Appropriators tack amendment to C-J-S spending bill banning renegotiating of ZTE sanctions

The House Appropriations Committee on Thursday approved the fiscal 2019 Commerce-Justice-Science spending bill after adding an amendment to ban the Commerce Department from renegotiating sanctions on Chinese telecommunications company ZTE, which President Trump has suggested he plans to do in trade negotiations.

The amendment, by Reps. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) and Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), passed by voice vote during the committee markup of the C-J-S appropriations bill. The overall bill was approved by the committee on a 32-19 vote....
