DHS tasked with guidance, directives under new OMB policy for protecting 'high-value' data

The Department of Homeland Security will be developing guidelines, sharing information and issuing “binding directives” for federal agencies on securing “high-value” data and systems, under a new policy by the Office of Management and Budget that builds on and replaces an Obama-era initiative.

“DHS, in coordination with OMB, established a capability to assess agency [high value assets], resulting in the identification of critical areas of weakness and plans to remediate those areas of weakness,” according to an OMB memorandum issued...
