Senate Commerce Chairman says markup of legislation on self-driving cars expected next month

Senate Commerce Chairman John Thune (R-SD) said legislation on setting cybersecurity and other requirements for autonomous vehicles should be ready for a committee vote soon after lawmakers return from summer recess in September.

“I thought we were going to mark up the legislation today but it wasn't ready,” Thune told reporters Wednesday following the committee's approval of several Trump administration nominees and a series of bills, including a cybersecurity workforce measure.
