DHS to rely on FISMA metrics in reviewing agencies' use of NIST framework

The Department of Homeland Security will rely on longstanding metrics and measurements under the Federal Information Security Modernization Act to judge the adequacy of plans recently developed by federal agencies for using the National Institute of Standards and Technology's framework of cybersecurity standards, as required by President Trump's executive order on cybersecurity.

DHS and the White House Office of Management and Budget will provide a response next week to federal agencies on their “action plans” for using the NIST framework,...
