Election commission to examine cybersecurity issues

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission will examine cybersecurity of voting systems during a meeting at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in September.

On Sept. 15 at NIST’s headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD, the EAC will hold a public meeting of its Technical Guidelines Development Committee to examine cybersecurity and other issues, according to a Federal Register notice. The EAC’s guidelines development committee is responsible for establishing voluntary voting system guidelines.
