Auto industry sees upcoming NHTSA cyber guidance as complementary to best practices

As the automotive industry begins to fill in the details of its new cybersecurity best practices, it is viewing forthcoming cyber guidance from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as a complementary effort to secure vehicles from potential cyber vulnerabilities.

“We need to lift the industry together,” said Jonathan Allen, acting director of the automotive industry's new information sharing and analysis center. “This industry has not had a catastrophic event. They're trying to get out in front of it.”
