Industry details alternative to stripping cyber export controls from Wassenaar agreement

A major coalition of industry groups that is seeking to influence renegotiations of an international agreement on cyber export controls is offering new details for ensuring access to data-protection products and services under a revised arrangement.

Short of stripping out the entire cyber provision from the 41-country Wassenaar arrangement, the business group argues for explicit clarification of what is not intended by the export restrictions, as well as an emphasis on software products and an exclusion for hardware.
