RAND proposes federal cyber insurance data repository as part of effort to create backstop

A new report from the RAND Corporation highlights the importance of collecting incident data as part of developing a federal cyber insurance backstop to cover catastrophic incidents and improve cyber resilience in the long term.

Limitations of the cyber insurance market for covering “catastrophic” cyber events “present sufficient justification for exploring the options for federal support of the cyber insurance market,” RAND says in a June 9 report on the evolving cyber insurance policy space.
