IBM report finds increased risk of operational disruption from cyber attacks despite ransomware decline

A new report from IBM’s X-Force threat intelligence team identifies a shift in cyber attacks over the past two years to focus on disrupting the operations of victim organizations, while seeing a decrease in the volume of ransomware attacks.

“Threat actors are pursuing broader-scale campaigns -- demonstrating a level of coordination, automation, and prowess not seen before -- and raising the likelihood and impact associated with operational risks,” the April 17 report says.
