Senate panel sees opportunity for accelerating use of artificial intelligence in response to China cyber attacks

The Senate Armed Services subcommittee considered options at a recent hearing for legislation to accelerate the Defense Department’s use of artificial intelligence to counter China’s cyber attacks, including changes to the Pentagon’s acquisition rules and putting forward an “implementation-first” approach to AI.

“Recent cyberattacks against U.S. critical infrastructure are a stark reminder of the growing sophistication and persistence of cyber threat actors,” cyber subcommittee Chairman Mike Rounds (R-SD) said in his opening statement at the March 25 hearing.
