By Jacob Livesay / March 7, 2025

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has published a draft white paper on ways to achieve “cryptographic agility” by making systems flexible when implementing encryption algorithms, as part of efforts to guide agencies and the private sector in migrating to post-quantum cryptography.

“Crypto agility describes the capabilities needed to replace and adapt cryptographic algorithms for protocols, applications, software, hardware, and infrastructures without interrupting the flow of a running system to achieve resilience,” NIST said in a March 5...
