Banking group calls for financial sector to align post-quantum cryptography migration timeline with federal efforts

Banking sector entities should align their efforts to implement quantum-resistant cryptography with the federal migration process to safeguard assets against emerging threats, according to the Bank Policy Institute.

“The advent of practical quantum computing poses a significant risk to data security, especially for industries like banking and finance, which rely heavily on cryptography to protect sensitive information,” the industry group says in a Dec. 30 blog post by Andrew Kennedy, BPI’s vice president of cybersecurity and risk strategy.
