Justice Dept. details international takedown of large scale botnet operation impacting 19 million devices

The Justice Department has announced the completion of an international law enforcement effort aimed at dismantling what the FBI is calling the “largest botnet ever,” halting the unauthorized use of over 19 million malware-infected devices around the globe to carry out criminal activity without detection.

“Working with our international partners, the FBI conducted a joint, sequenced cyber operation to dismantle the 911 S5 Botnet--likely the world’s largest botnet ever,” FBI Director Christopher Wray says in a Wednesday release.
