FCC proposes establishing requirements to develop plans addressing internet routing risks for broadband providers

A notice of proposed rulemaking to be considered at the Federal Communications Commission’s June meeting considers establishing requirements where large broadband providers would need to submit information on their plans to secure internet routing traffic and address potential cyber risks.

The NPRM specifically focuses on Border Gateway Protocol, which is described in a draft circulated last week as the “global inter-domain routing protocol used to exchange reachability information amongst these networks in order to route traffic across the Internet.”...
