House Oversight advances FISMA reform bill addressing structural changes in federal cyber landscape

The House Oversight Committee has approved in a 32-7 vote legislation to reform the Federal Information Security Management Act, making changes that reflect how the federal cyber landscape has changed over the past 10 years.

FISMA was established by Congress in 2002 and last updated in 2014. Agencies are required to report details on their information security efforts to the Office of Management and Budget. The Department of Homeland Security provides metrics for reporting each year and is tasked with...
