NIST considers investigating cybersecurity needs for immersive technologies

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is launching a project to research cybersecurity and privacy considerations for immersive technologies including augmented reality and the “metaverse.”

NIST is concerned that immersive technologies may bring “new vulnerabilities for cybersecurity and privacy that, if ignored, could create economic and societal harms,” according to a Jan. 11 blog post by Dylan Gilbert and Michael Fagan.
