Rosenworcel updates lawmakers on FCC rip-and-replace program funding needs

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel in a recent letter to lawmakers provided an update on the commission’s efforts to carry out the rip-and-replace program for untrustworthy equipment on U.S. networks, and the shortfall to fully fund the program that remains despite pleas from industry to resolve the issue.

The Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act provided $1.9 billion to fund the reimbursement program. The FCC in early 2022 announced that eligible providers had requested $5.6 billion in reimbursement for rip-and-replace...
