U.S.-EU agreement on ‘Privacy Shield’ successor aims to ensure trans-Atlantic data flows

The U.S. and the European Union have reached an agreement in principle on a successor to the Privacy Shield Framework to enable trans-Atlantic data flows with privacy and security protections acceptable to the two sides.

President Biden is in Europe this week to meet with NATO and G7 leaders to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Biden met today with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, where the two discussed a “major breakthrough in transatlantic data flows,” Biden said....
